Ruifang-Sacred Hearts of Jesus & Mary Catholic Church (New Taipei City, Taiwan), in view of its 65th Year of Foundation, organized an INDIA-HOLY LAND Pilgrimage of eighteen days from 2nd to 20th November 2018. From Taiwan eight of us participated in the event and another thirty one pilgrims from India joined for the pilgrimage to the Holy Land. Indeed this immense experience gave us an incredible opportunity to directly witness the cradle of Christian faith that we had been professing until now, an occasion that offered us a unique chance to walk through the footsteps of Jesus Christ in the Holy Land and that of St. Thomas, one of his twelve apostles, in Kerala, India.
As its first part, we visited few of the prominent Churches of Syro-Malabar Catholic Church in Kerala-India, namely, St. Thomas Shrine at Kodungalloor-where St. Thomas is believed to have been landed in AD 52 and where his relics is preserved, St. Mary’s Syro-Malabar Major Archiepiscopal Church at Kuravilangad, St. George Forane Church at Edapally etc. We also had visited few important tourist destinations in Kerala, such as, Alleppey, Idukki, Munnar etc. As its second part, we visited almost all the pilgrim locations of Jesus Christ in the Holy land in Jordan, Israel, Palestine and Egypt (Basilica of Annunciation at Nazareth, Nativity Church at Bethlehem, Church of the Holy Sepulcher in Jerusalem, Baptismal Site at Jordan River, Mount Sinai, Cairo etc to name few of them).
In fact, our walk through the Holy Land made us reflect deeply into the mystery of our Christian faith. A great expression of gratitude to the Almighty for its realization from all of us!!! May God sanctify our faith and our journey on earth!!!
